Assembly Fasteners began in 1984 when Hugh and Judy Watson launched the company under the name Tropic Fasteners. Hugh’s experience in the fastener industry began several years earlier at AFCOM, where he developed expertise across shipping, quality control, and sales operations. When that company encountered financial difficulties, Hugh chose to build something of his own, and within six months Judy was able to leave her position at Sprint to join the growing business full-time, helping manage the financial side of the company.

Initially serving sheet metal fabrication companies and OEM manufacturers throughout the southern United States, Assembly Fasteners built its reputation on dependable supply, responsive service, and a commitment to helping customers solve sourcing challenges.

As customer needs evolved, so did Assembly Fasteners.

The company expanded its operations throughout the southeastern United States, establishing additional locations in North Carolina, Georgia, Texas, and Tennessee.

Along the way, Assembly Fasteners introduced inventory management services that helped customers maintain consistent supply while reducing internal inventory management burdens. These programs became a defining part of the company’s value to manufacturers, helping streamline procurement while ensuring the right components were available when production demanded them.

A New Chapter With Endries International

After four decades of steady growth, Assembly Fasteners entered a new phase through its acquisition by Endries International.

This partnership strengthens Assembly Fasteners’ ability to serve customers by combining AFI’s service-focused culture with Endries’ global sourcing capabilities, supply chain infrastructure, and expanded product portfolio.
